POSITION SUMMARY

The Group Accounting & Tax Manager is responsible for standardizing all accounting, tax, statutory reporting, and period-end closing processes across all companies within the holding structure. The role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data, manages tax obligations in full compliance with legislation, and provides strategic financial insights to the CFO.
This position carries high responsibility across consolidation support, tax management, internal controls, period-end closings, ERP processes, and financial reporting. It plays a critical role in ensuring compliance, transparency, and financial accuracy across all group entities.

 

STRATEGIC IMPORTANCE & EXPECTATIONS

Strategic Role of the Position

  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of financial reporting
  • Manage all tax obligations in full compliance with applicable regulations
  • Minimize financial risks, operational costs, and error rates
  • Contribute to budget, cash flow, and financial projection processes
  • Coordinate internal and external audit processes
  • Standardize accounting workflows end-to-end through ERP systems

  • Deliver strategic insights through accurate budget–actual variance analysis
  • Complete audit processes (internal/external) smoothly and on time

Challenges of the Position

  • Adapting continuously to rapidly changing tax regulations
  • Managing closing, consolidation, and reporting across multiple entities
  • Coordinating audit and statutory filing processes under strict deadlines
  • Ensuring full end-to-end process integrity through ERP systems
  • Operating with very low tolerance for errors due to tax and compliance risk
  • Managing teams located across multiple sites and regions

CANDIDATE PROFILE & REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Public Finance, or related fields
  • SMMM (CPA equivalent in Turkey) certificate preferred (obtained or in progress)
  • Master’s degree (MBA / Finance) is an advantage

Languages

  • Good/Advanced level English (written and spoken) — required for reporting, audit, and international communication
  • Italian language proficiency is an advantage

Computer & Digital Skills

  • Experience with ERP systems (IFS preferred; SAP, Oracle, LOGO acceptable)
  • Advanced Excel (pivot tables, macros, advanced formulas)
  • Power BI / Data analytics experience is an advantage
  • Strong knowledge of e-ledger, e-invoice, e-archive, e-reconciliation processes
  • Ability to adapt quickly to digital reporting and automation systems

Experience

  • 7–10 years of experience in accounting, tax, and financial reporting
  • Experience in managing teams is a strong plus
  • Background in independent audit or accounting firms is an advantage

Preferred Industries

  • Manufacturing / Industrial Production
  • Machinery & equipment manufacturing
  • Companies engaged in foreign trade or multi-entity group structures
  • Previous work experience in corporate audit firms is a plus

Required Technical & Personal Competencies

Technical Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of local chart of accounts (CoA)
  • TFRS / IFRS (especially IFRS 15)
  • Tax legislation (Corporate Tax, VAT, Withholding Tax, Transfer Pricing)
  • Fixed asset accounting
  • Basic knowledge of inventory & cost accounting (required)
  • ERP & digital finance systems expertise
  • Strong reporting, analysis, and financial control skills

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Group Accounting Management

  • Standardize general accounting processes for all Turkish and international group companies
  • Create, update, and enforce the Group Chart of Accounts (CoA)
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all accounting records

2. Tax Management

  • Manage Corporate Tax, VAT, Withholding, Temporary Tax, and all legal declarations
  • Lead export VAT refund processes (critical for Alapala)
  • Execute tax planning, incentives, and governmental support programs
  • Manage transfer pricing documentation at group level
  • Represent group companies during tax audits and coordinate all procedures

3. Consolidation & Reporting Support

  • Provide accurate and complete accounting data to the Group Reporting Team
  • Prepare required breakdowns and datasets for IFRS-compliant reporting
  • Ensure timely submission of all financial statements

4. Process & Internal Control Management

  • Establish internal control frameworks for accounting processes across the group
  • Ensure statutory books are maintained in full compliance
  • Manage intercompany reconciliations and ensure 100% alignment
  • Act as the main counterpart during independent and tax audits

5. Team Management

  • Lead and develop the central accounting team at the holding
  • Coordinate with accounting teams of Alapala Makina, Alapala Global, Alapala Construction, Axor, and Alapala International
  • Manage performance evaluations, workload planning, and task distribution

6. ERP & Digital Transformation

  • Ensure accurate configuration and execution of all accounting processes on IFS ERP
  • Standardize e-invoice, e-ledger, e-dispatch processes across all companies
  • Play an active role in digital accounting and automation projects

7. Management Reporting

  • Provide CFO and CEO with regular reports on accounting and tax risks
  • Deliver insights on project costs, investment costs, and inventory valuation
